Encounter Distance
- Standard Encounter Distance: d6+4 (5”-10”)
- Situational Modifiers: Various factors will modify the actual encounter distance (see the table below).
Modifiers to Encounter Distance
| Modifier | Description | Encounter Distance |

| Surprise | Encounter distance is reduced if applies. | 1d3” |
| Light | Light reliance limits encounter distance. | Maximum x2 light radius |
| Special Vision | Similar to light reliance, but limited to the vision range. | Maximum vision radius |
| Actual Area | The encounter distance is limited to the available space in small areas. | Max area limits distance. Determine randomly. 20’ x 20 room example (d6):
- 1-2: Striking distance - 3-4: 10’ - 5-6: 20’

| Line of Sight | The degree of unobstructed line of sight can extend or reduce encounter distance. | - Extend the encounter distance if unobstructed and illuminated. - Reduce if obstruct and unlit. |
| Noise | Noisy actors alert the other party. | If one group is making a lot of noise, the other party may:
1) Avoid/flee 2) Close in to 1-4” (1d4)
